You don’t need a complete redesign in order to refresh your bedroom. By changing the bedding, swapping out the decorative pillows, and the accent table and decor, I was able to create a lighter – yet cozy refreshed look in our master bedroom. The light colors of the bedding gives the room the feeling of newness and cleanliness while the velvet and faux fur textures gives a cozy vibe for the cold winter months.

If you caught my insta-stories last week, I shared two gorgeous duvets I saw at HomeGoods but they were king size. Disappointing! So I settled with a pretty velvet, ivory colored quilt. I went home to dress the bed to see how it looked. While I love the light and warm texture, I felt it was too plain and needed something else. So I went back to HomeGoods and picked up one of the king sized duvets I loved and thought to myself…“What’s the worst thing that could happen? It will look crazy and I will just return it.” Well, guess what? I made it work with our queen-sized bed! Keep reading to see how!

The quilt serves two purposes…it not only covers us at night but I get to cover the whole bed with it – which hides both the fitted sheet and the fold of the flat sheet. I’ve noticed too that depending on how I make the bed with the comforter, the top of the box spring tends to show but now that’s not an issue! A tip, I bet luxury hotels use when dressing their beds!

The white duvet is a Nicole Miller Home – Woven Jacquard print. I inserted our queen-size goose down comforter inside the king-size duvet and found that when I folded the duvet in two folds towards the lower part of the bed, it didn’t appear that I had to much fabric hanging. I love that I could probably make a triple fold with the duvet, a finishing touch to the luxury look!

I added our faux fur Corseca pillows that we had in the guest room. To add more of that cozy feel from the velvet quilt, I pulled out our velvet blush pink decorative pillows that we once had on our living room sofa and added them on the bed for a soft pop of color.

Do you notice that you can see the pillow shams in the back? That’s because I purchased two king sized pillows. Typically, if you place a lot of decorative pillows in front of your queen size shams, you only see a small portion of them (if any). With the king size pillows, I am able to see the printed sham and there is no gap in the middle. Does this mean I will be purchasing king size duvets from now on for our queen size bed? No! I was happy to see I was able to make it work and love how it turned out. Besides, now we have a duvet for our future king size bed we plan on purchasing for our new home! Yep, we decided that we are outgrowing rooms in this house and are looking forward to our plans of making it happen.

For a decor change, I swapped out our silver accent table that sat next to our seated bench with this Murano table that was in our home office. I added this new White Knob Textured Vase on top and pulled out this marble box. I use the box to house matches for me to have easy access when lighting up the scented candles. I placed my new Voluspa rose scented candle that was gifted to me from my sister for Christmas. The color of the glass candle jar blended perfectly with the rest of the soft pinks.

Now for those of you wondering where does Bailey (our Cockapoo) sleep…he sleeps in his own bed next to my vanity or often times, we will find him cozying up on the shag area rug.
