OUTDOOR LIVING: WE FINALLY OPENED UP OUR DECK FOR THE SUMMER

Hello, friends! Hope you had a great weekend. This past Friday, we decided to finally open up our deck for the summer. Yes, we didn’t even have it opened for spring. I know…crazy, right?! It can be a pain to uncover and then cover the two seating areas we have on a week when there is more than 3 days of rain. If we did want to soak up the sun and sit out, we would just uncover the two adirondack chairs – it’s much easier than setting up a whole outdoor living space.

The reason we didn’t go all out and uncover the deck and decorate it for the spring season is there are maintenance projects that needs to be done on the deck but with all the rain we’ve had, it kept being postponed. We recently had the deck floors power washed in preparation of re-staining but with the crazy weather and the need for us to travel, we decided to postpone the deck floors and other maintenance until next spring. So, it was apparent that if we wanted to enjoy our outdoor living area while we can – despite the projects that needs to be done, it was time to uncover and set up! It didn’t take me long to deck out our dining room and living area and get it ready for some outdoor entertaining fun.

We love that our outdoor deck is an extension of our home. The best time to enjoy lounging on our outdoor deck definitely has to be during the summer season because of the very tall mature trees that fills our view from up above. It’s our little oasis that we are thankful to have!

I dressed our outdoor dining table with a casual look that included these matte oval melamine dinnerware pieces. For the centerpiece, I grouped outdoor candle holders in a tray and softened the look by adding few hydrangea stems from our garden. Faux topiaries completed the centerpiece.

I carried the navy blue accent color from the dining area into the living space. I typically shy away from color and stick to neutrals but decided to stay with the blue accent color I had used when styling the deck last year in the fall. I added these new pretty blue watercolor bird & floral pillows.
