TV MEDIA CONSOLE TURNED “SWANKY” DINING ROOM CABINET

Swanky Dining Room Cabinet

I’ve been searching months and months for a cabinet/buffet table to place in my dining room and I couldn’t find one that wasn’t overly expensive or that would compliment our eight-seater dining room set. So about a week ago, while shopping at Marshalls to pick up some placemats, I found this cherry wood TV media cabinet and knew this was a fabulous find! In my mind, I knew there were options on which room in the house I can place it in but I walked away and continued shopping for placemats. A few minutes later, I found myself back in front of the cabinet, staring at it and thinking (or should I say trying to convince myself!)… Should I get it? Will it fit?  It’s the perfect color combination and matches the decor furnishings in the house and I can always return it if it doesn’t work out. So in the SUV in went! Needless to say, I didn’t purchase placemats that day!

When I returned home, I didn’t waste any time. I quickly removed my collapsable bar table in the dining room and in the cabinet went. It fit perfectly in the space and is now the back drop of the dining room. I love how versatile it is! I can easily remove the contents on top of the cabinet and use it as a buffet table when hosting family dinners or weekend brunches! I didn’t want to accessorize the top of the cabinet with an array of liquor bottles, instead I simply styled it with a small collection of vintage decanters on a mirrored gold tray, a glass ice bucket, a lamp, and a few decor accessories.

Inside the cabinet shelves, I used it to house my teapots & teacups and my vintage stemware for easy access whenever I set the dining room table. In the other shelf I stocked a few bottles of red wine.

Since this cabinet is located in our dining room, I wanted to incorporate a prayer print so I custom ordered this one from Craft Mei. Chelsea of Craft Mei has a wonderful collection of downloadable prints you can choose from. I actually ordered this Christmas print last year, shown here (and you can see the full view of the dining room). For the prayer print, I placed it inside a white frame and rather than hanging it on the wall and keeping it stationed, I placed it on top of the cabinet and leaned it on the wall. Should I decide to add a DIY art piece, I can easily incorporate the framed prayer print along side it, creating another layer of visual interest.
