TIPS ON ADDING SEASONAL FALL DECOR IN A GUEST ROOM

When decorating for the fall season, why stop at just the communal living spaces of your home? Seasonal or holiday decorating doesn’t typically extend to the guest room, but adding simple fall touches will give a hint of seasonality to the room.

It doesn’t take much to incorporate minimal seasonal touches. You want to make sure your accents coordinates easily with your existing decor for an easy transition.

Here are a few tips to adding fall decor accessories in your guest room…

Hang a Seasonal Wreath

Above the guest bed, I replaced our decorative gold floral wreath with this gold cast metal pumpkin wreath. Adding a seasonal wreath above a bed, above a nightstand or hanging on a mirror is a great way to welcome guests with a bit of seasonal cheer.

Add a Fall-scented Candle and Decorative Pumpkin

Fall by far is the season that overwhelms the senses with sights, tastes, and smell – especially the smell…mmm! Add a fragrant candle in your guest room. It’s comforting scents that makes a room feel cozier. This Autumn Harvest candle smells delicious with notes of peach and cinnamon.

Pumpkins are a fall decorating favorite. Bring some seasonal flair by adding a decorative pumpkin in your guest space. I displayed this decorative embroidered velvet pumpkin.

Add a pop of your favorite Fall Colors that Usher in the New Season

When giving a room in your home a seasonal refresh, you don’t need to incorporate every color of fall – you can simply add a favorite. Switch up your guest room by accenting with warm, rich colors like golden tones, brilliant reds, olive greens, or cinnamon browns.

This year, I found myself drawn to crimson hues. A single mum stem in a deep rich red that has a purple tint brightens the nightstand. Another pop of this brilliant shade is the decorative pumpkin on the bed. This bold accent is a perfect way to add a pop of color to an otherwise, neutral space like our guest room.

Add Seasonal Faux Flowers or Branches

Create homage to the fall season by setting the scene with natural textures, like leaves and flowering branches. To do this, I adorned the top of the accent table with a mix of textures – such as these natural lagurus bunch and glittered leaves branches in a pretty pinkish-gray color that coordinates well with the blush and crimson tones sprinkled throughout the room. (Found these branches at Pier 1, they don’t seem to have a link for them online).

While fresh flowers and branches are preferred at times, having faux foliage in a guest room is ideal since the room is not used 100% of the time. That way when you do have overnight guests or even last minute, unexpected guests, the bedroom will already be guest-ready! Some other fall floral options are these Bunny Tails Grass, Stardust Gypsum, and Gold and Silver Glitter Lead Branch.

Add Extra Cozy Elements

Cozy and comfortable are key in creating a guest retreat. Luckily, we have space in our guest room for an accent chair and small ottoman. It’s a relaxing spot where a guest and sit and read and also serves as somewhere a guest can cozy up that isn’t in the living room. To add comfort to this cozy spot, I added this textured pillow and a throw blanket for warmth.

Emit A Cheerful Welcome with Fall Room Spray

Emit the scents of fall can make a whole space smell inviting. Room spray is all the warm cozy fall scents in a bottle.

Whether you’re expecting out-of-town guests or have last minute – unexpected guests staying over, I hope you’ve been inspired to adding touches of that autumnal look and feel to your guest room – it will make your visitor stay feel special.

Check back here tomorrow, to see how I gave our master bedroom a seasonal refresh…it’s oh so cozy!
