I’m not one to decorate the house for Valentine’s however, if I’m going to give our home a dose of love and romance, I will concentrate on our living room ottoman tray for touches of Valentine’s day colors in a variation of pink hues.
I’m celebrating the month of February with a bit of a seasonal refresh to our ottoman tray – it’s the focal point of our living room. I glammed up our tray with sprinkle in bits of brass, gold, white, and shades of pink. I love how bright and welcoming it is – a reminder that Spring is coming! Keep reading to see how I styled and decorated our ottoman tray!
Add a Beautiful Valentine’s Day Inspired Arrangement
Ranunculus are one of my absolute favorite flowers! I adore the beauty of the delicate tissue-thin layer of petals, yet they are strong enough through their graceful movement. You can count on Trader Joe’s to find a variety of blooms – I was able to create an arrangement that included spray roses, hyacinths, and regular roses in shades of white, cream, and different shades of pink. For inspiration on how to create this arrangement, I referred to my Color Me Floral book by Kiana Underwood.
Bring in Jewel-Toned Coasters
I pulled out my set of gold leaf edge coasters in a pretty shade of pink that I found at TJMaxx.
Add an Element of Interest
Bert the Peacock is meant to be a spoon rest but I think with the way the Peacock’s tail fans out, it looks chic enough to hold Valentine’s day chocolates. It adds interest and the unexpected to the ottoman tray.
Illuminate and Decorate your Tray with a Scented Candle
This Ivory Primrose floral scented candle housed in a pretty rose gold jar combines fresh, feminine notes of geranium, primrose, peony, and pomegranate with a hint of vanilla marshmallow and blond wood.
My Two Decorative Candle Essentials
Alongside my candle are my gold candle wick trimmer and gold candle snuffer with marble handle. I find them to be convenient styling essentials, that brings in a sleek and elegant look.
Create a Theme with your Coffee Table Books
I love to add to my collection of coffee table books, not only because I’m fond of the authors and the contents of the books but as we all know, they are a stylish element that adds personality and inspiration when using them as home decor. When used on your coffee table or ottoman tray, they add color, texture, and height. In order to create a theme, I wanted to use colors that I’m decorating with so I chose to display The Flower Book by Rachel Siegfried. The large print of blooms that is showcased on the cover inspires the spring season and pulls the theme of the ottoman tray vignette together nicely.
The Foundation for a Chic Coffee Table or Ottoman…The Tray
A well curated styled ottoman tray helps to make a vignette look unified and coupled with other unique items, it adds an element of personality and sophistication to your living room. My tray is no longer available at Z Gallerie but here’s a similar version.
