With the pandemic still looming, getting dressed up to head out and dine in a restaurant for Valentine’d day wasn’t something we wanted to do. Instead, I got creative and we celebrated with a romantic, candlelit Valentine’s dinner in an unexpected place of our home.
To change up the scenery from the standard dining room table, I wanted to create a unique dining experience. I did this by choosing to setting up a table in an unexpected area of our home…our living room. I moved out our ottoman and in its place, I set up a Valentine’s table for two in front of our sofa. To create a romantic and classically, modern tone – I started out by covering the table with a grey velvet table linen. The velvet texture of the linen gave the table a warm and cozy vibe as our picture window reflected a cold winter evening. Down the center of the table, I added a layer with a sheer chiffon table runner and cascaded sheer ribbon in all coordinating burgundy and blush hues that soften the look of the table. Using beautiful flowers I received as my Valentine’s day gift, I created this lush flower arrangement as the centerpiece for the table. For a romantic ambiance, I added taper and tea light candles using clear crystal holders that coordinated with the crystal pedestal bowl I used for the floral arrangement. To keep the crystal consistent throughout the table, I used clear crystal stemware and paired them with silver rimmed, classic white bone china. For a modern touch, I layered the dinner and salad plate with a silver and gold marble dessert plate – this completed the look of the place settings.
We enjoyed a delicious dinner and Valentine’s dessert treats, all while watching romantic comedies on Netflix.
