HOW I SET OUR CHRISTMAS TABLE FOR TWO THIS YEAR

If there’s one thing we can always cherish this time of year, it’s the blessing of home. Just as it was for Thanksgiving, it will just be me and my spouse celebrating Christmas at home this year. I always like to make the Christmas holiday extra special (especially this year), so to help bring that joyous feel and savor the season at home together, I created an intimate Christmas table setting for two that includes an eye-catching focal point with glimmers of gold and all seasonal details making it feel magical. I think it’s fun to create a theme each year. The large centerpiece blocks the view of missing table settings for guests that we would have had. Besides the fact that I’m still undergoing chemotherapy, we feel it’s best for us and our family members if we sacrifice celebrating together this holiday season by giving up a year so that we can gather again for many years to come.

The Christmas Theme

This year, I’m feeling outdoorsy so I created a wintry vibe in our dining room that includes a flocked Christmas tree that is subtly decorated with ornaments like owls, birds, acorns and white fluff that I cascaded in and around the tree for that snowy effect.

The Christmas Table Centerpiece

Using holiday decor items and tableware I already own, I created a large table centerpiece to fill our holiday table with. It includes a mix of a tonal winter palette and touches of shimmer and shine. The first layer of this holiday table centerpiece includes a lush flocked garland, layered with festive greenery & branches. Candlelight makes everything taste better, so I included a magical display of illuminated pre-lit, glittered-tree cones to enchanting frosted votives and taper candles. This wintry-inspired look transforms the dining room into a snowy wonderland.

The Festive Place Settings

For a sophisticated approach to the place settings, I went with an elegant and neutral palette with a slight shimmer. White bone china designed with a silver rim, vintage silver-rimmed glassware, modern flatware, festive dessert plates, and gold decorative pears for that final seasonal touch make even an intimate gathering for two feel merry.
