This year Thanksgiving celebrations will look different for everyone. The COVID-19 pandemic has been sad, stressful, depressive and isolating for many people. Many will be away from family and close friends this year, while others may continue mourning the loss of loved ones from the virus. We are all navigating this new unprecedented time the best we can.
Let’s not forget about those friends, acquaintances, co-workers, or family members by ordering food by supporting your favorite local restaurant or delivering a home-cooked meal their way this holiday season – contact-free.
Whether you will be celebrating virtual or with members of your own household, you might find traditions comforting during these uncertain times. Or perhaps, celebrating in a new way is in order…keeping it simple and stress free. Here’s how…
- Stay Connected. Celebrating virtually continues to be the current norm these days as it definitely keeps family and friends connected to each other.
- Take it Outside. If you live in an area where the weather permits, have a Thanksgiving picnic…heck if you want, why not have an indoor Thanksgiving picnic?! Remember those holiday leftover recipe ideas? Use those recipes for your picnic menu, i.e., Turkey and Cranberry Sandwiches or check out this epic Thanksgiving Charcuterie Board!
- Have a Thanksgiving Brunch. Instead of a traditional dinner, have a brunch instead (check out Pinterest for food ideas) and tune from 9AM to 12noon to the annual Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. It will be a television-only event with no audience however, theatrical and musical performances are scheduled.
If you’re not feeling it – t’s perfectly okay to skip celebrating Thanksgiving day this year. No one should make you feel bad about it either.
At the end of the day, I think we can all agree, the most important thing on this day is to spend time sharing what you are thankful for. I think it’s safe to say, this Pandemic has indeed shed light on what is really important in this life.
Donate to those in need to a Charitable Organization or deliver a Thanksgiving meal to your elderly neighbors at their door – contact-free.
With just one week away until Thanksgiving day, I have rounded up new recipes that we can try out this holiday season. Check out the delicious Thanksgiving dinner menu ideas below, from appetizers and entrees to dessert options.
However you plan on celebrating the holidays this year, I wish you a safe and blessed one!
