When we first moved into our first home, the walls were painted with what I call the ‘standard carpenter color’ which is a yellowish/beige color…blah! In our formal dining room, I chose to have the front wall painted in a light blue accent color and the rest of the walls are gray. Years later, I decided to take that blue accent color and have it painted in a deeper blue to create a moody vibe. The current color is Benjamin Moore ‘mysterious AF-565’. I’m itchin to lighten things up a bit and create more of a balance with the dark dining room furniture.
I’ve been scouring Pinterest for some dining room inspiration. My goal is to give our walls in the dining room a bit of a refresh. Some options that may give some impact are wall panels, temporary wallpaper, or stencil. I would like to create a contrast of light walls with the existing dark furniture. Below are a few photo ideas that have me inspired!

I love the design choices Studio McGee created here. I’m attracted to the bright, crisp white walls, paired with the dark furniture. My only concern with white walls is I think if you are going to paint with white, it should be cohesive and all the walls throughout the home should be painted the same color. Something we may consider in the new house!

Since our dining chairs are a dark wood with a navy blue back and seat, I can really get an idea of what our dining room would look like with wall paper in this room designed by Martha O’Hara Interiors. I really like how minimal the design of the light gray and white wallpaper is. I’m also loving the chair wall moulding. The combination is timeless and classic! To balance the room, an area rug is laid underneath the dining table to breakup the dark wood of the dining table and the wood floors.

I’ve always loved this dining room from Tamara of Citrine Living! I love the dark bold paint choice with the high contrasting white chair wall moulding. An idea would be paint our dining room walls the same color as the accent wall and brighten it up with moulding. Oh, decisions – decisions.
