Decor & Interiors: FUNCTIONAL + FABULOUS WORKSPACE TOUR WITH JOANN DIGIACINTO

Get ready to be inspired!

In case you missed yesterday’s post, I featured my sister’s guest bathroom and today her home tour continues inside her feminine and oh so, chic home workspace! When it comes design aesthetic, my sister’s home is a direct reflection of her individual style.

When my sister, JoAnn decided that she was going to convert her empty open loft space located on the second level of her home into her personal workspace, she knew she wanted it to be three things…functional, sophisticated, with an ultra feminine flair. She succeeded with her vision and created a comfortable workspace that is both contemporary and timeless. JoAnn provided just the right jolt of style and glam!

The design inspiration began with the installation of this stunning patterned wallpaper – a simple way to add the look of luxury. With hues of gold, cream, and light gray, this determined the color palette for the rest of the workspace. By adding wallpaper, it created a dramatic interest to a space filled with neutrals. Likewise, with muted tones, she certainly was able to create a feeling of openness in her small space and the impact of the wallpaper gave the illusion that the workspace was bigger than it actually is.

JoAnn didn’t go with just any ordinary desk chair, she desired an inviting sense of comfort. She selected fabric and had it upholstered so that the front and back had two different fabrics, creating a luxe look.

Centered open bookshelves allows the space to have a focal point where she is able to add her favorite statement decor pieces and books. A custom built-in gives plenty of space to store items and work on various projects.

A gorgeous chandelier embellished with amber jeweled-tone crystals, creates an upscale and elegant workspace.

Just like me, my sister loves a wonderfully scented candle and she houses hers on a gold mirrored tray, accompanied with a Chanel box that holds match sticks. A bud vase is readily available for those days when she wants to add a few short-stemmed flowers. However, the vase sits perfectly on the tray even without fresh flowers, resembling a sculptured piece.

Big or small, distinctive details are styled everywhere in this space.

To add an accent color to this workspace, JoAnn decided to go with a blush color that adds to the feminine vibe. This custom monogrammed window shade with its crystal trim was the final touch and completed the look of her workspace.

A home workspace is not complete unless you have bar cart and my sister decided to use this vintage brass tiered glass shelf with two primary functions…to house her drinking glass, water pitcher, and to incorporate her sentimental decor pieces. Nestled underneath her window, she added a soft layer by using a white shag rug, which helped to keep the small area grounded.
