A QUICK & EASY LAST-MINUTE FOURTH OF JULY DESSERT YOU CAN MAKE TODAY

Happy Fourth of July, friends!

Okay, so while this might be the best looking cherry pie you ever did see, it does taste delish and at the end – that’s what matters the most…am I right?! If you’re in a pinch and need a quick and easy dessert to make today, all you will need is refrigerated pie crust you can find in the freezer section of your local grocery store and cherry pie filling. To make this pie festive, use cookie cutters in the shape of a star and voila…your ‘star-studded’ cherry pie!

To make this dessert, on a flour surface, roll out of the pie crusts large enough to fit in your baking dish. Place it in your baking dish, add the can of cherry filling inside and set aside. For the second pie crust, roll it out (again on a flour surface to avoid it sticking) and using the cookie cutter, press into the dough and cut out the shapes. I cut out about eight stars. Brush the stars and the rim of the pie crust with egg wash – for a bit of flavor, I add a teaspoon of vanilla extract. Lightly sprinkle sugar in the raw on the stars and place them on your cherry pie filling. Bake the pie according the directions on the pie box. It will be ready once the crust and stars are a golden brown.

Serve warm with a side of ice cream and enjoy!
