Over the recent years, I’ve been collecting an array of vintage china, glassware, and candle holders. I find these to be special treasured pieces – even more so, when they are handed down to you from your grandmother and/or great grandmother. When creating this vintage and antique-inspired tablescape, I imagined table elements that inspired this look. From the loveliest details of delicate lace and vintage china, to vintage stemware, flatware and napkins. The table setting is perfect to host a brunch or a bridal shower celebration.
To evoke a sophisticated but not over-the-top vintage look, I balanced the vintage feel with a few modern-type elements to the table. I went with a neutral color palette, with pops of muted florals, delicate clear crystal, and gold flatware as the jewels to the table. Hints of champagne and lace add a romantic air. Vintage gold-rim dinnerware, crystal glassware and candleholders, meld seamlessly and lend an heirloom quality on this airy and romantic table.
My sister, JoAnn created this fabulous floral arrangement, housed in a milk glass pedestal bowl. The floral color palette was filled with vintage hues of lilac, a soft pink and greenery for a romantic, garden-like feel. Some of the florals selected were Sedum, Gomphrena, Roses, and Eucalyptus Silver Dollar. The eucalyptus, champagne grapes, and sliced figs added a festive and textural fall touch to the table centerpiece. This created a moodily layered, yet soft tablescape.
Whether you own family heirlooms or thrift store finds, incorporating vintage elements and a touch of modern-type pieces into your tablescape design, makes for a fresh aspect to a classic approach.
