My mother brightened my day today by having fresh cut peonies delivered to me right from her garden! It’s an annual tradition during this time of season. They smell so good! On my nightstand is a perfect place for me to enjoy them.

How ironic it is… When you are told that chemo t

How ironic it is…
When you are told that chemo treatments are needed in order to treat your cancer and that sinking feeling of what that means mentally and physically and then when your faced with the possibility of not receiving treatment because your body can’t take it or your blood counts are too low, you are still left with that same sinking feeling.
How strange it is - the one thing you wish you didn’t have to undergo is the one thing you wish they won’t say you can’t get.
For a few moments, I was left with that sinking feeling but thankfully, after speaking with my oncologist, we will proceed with chemo today and I will need to get a shot to boost my WBC for a period of three days, starting tomorrow.
The only way for me to get through these emotions is to take a deep breath and trust. There may be times when we may feel tested…our faith that is. But I can only rely on God’s plans, for He knows what is best for me in the way He deems most appropriate. If you are going through a wave of emotions right now, here is my prayer…Lord, guide me always along the path that You have planned for me. Help me to get through whatever comes my way with your comfort and strength. Make a way for me to endure and never let go of my hand. In Jesus name, Amen.

I replaced the stems that were originally in this ginger jar and changed up the art on the frame TV to match the mood and ambiance in the living room space. “Cause You bring beauty from my pain…” This

“Cause You bring beauty from my pain…” This line, this lyric from the song ‘Stay Strong’ by Danny Gokey hits me hard every time I hear it. And I mean that in a good way! Through my journey, I’ve prayed that the Lord offers me wisdom, that He continues to reveal His teachings and in doing so, He has opened my heart and mind to many things that has changed how I see things within myself and looking outward. To accept, to walk by faith, to rely on His strength and most importantly that He sees me and I see Him. Despite the disease, He has brought me so much love, comfort, compassion, mercy, attention, and awareness…this is “the beauty” He continues to bring to me. As I continue to walk the path He has graciously laid before me…“So I’ll praise You in the waiting and my faith will stay strong”. #cycle2

With this flower arrangement, I used a small pedes

With this flower arrangement, I used a small pedestal vase, inserted chicken wire that I molded into a circular shape and then secured it with tape. These beautiful white peonies have a hint of pink inside them and I felt they paired well with the hues of the tulips that have a light shade of pink and white. To make the arrangement look fuller, since some of the peonies have larger heads, I reflexed a few of the tulips. I had an idea of how I wanted the arrangement to look but at the end, I just let it take shape naturally by just using my instinct on where each bloom should go. That’s not the professional way of making an arrangement (not that I’m a professional) but I thought it turned out pretty well. What do you think?

I cherish the nostalgic memories of the meals from my childhood. Coming from a Puerto Rican household, our kitchen was always in full rotation of delicious traditional dishes. Whether it was my mother‘s arroz con habichuelas, a staple food that’s a big part of our culture, or her arroz con dulce, food has a way of transporting me back to the past. While things may have changed overtime, my mom is always there, bringing love and memories of my childhood through her cooking. As Mother’s Day approaches, I’m thankful for her, all the traditions she taught me, and for her endless love. As a woman now, the roles have shifted a bit, and now it has been my turn to create memories, filled with moments that make her feel love and appreciated. I take joy in setting the table, orchestrating every special detail. I want to show her the same love and gratitude she’s shown me…countless times before.

Had a good follow-up visit with my oncologist toda

Had a good follow-up visit with my oncologist today. While my body continues to repair and heal as I move into starting Cycle 2 next week, I relaxed by putting this flower arrangement using the prettiest pink peonies from Trader Joe’s! Nothing makes me happier than working with beautiful blooms.

I’m feeling like myself again…well my new norm

I’m feeling like myself again…well my new normal, that is. The past three days, after receiving chemo and getting a shot to boost my white blood cell count really took a toll on my body, to say the least but today is a very good day…Praise God!! That was a tuff hurdle but He made a way through for me. The sun is shining, the temperature reached 81! Did we just skip spring? Time to put the sweaters away and bring out the spring dresses. I added this sweet looking ginger jar from @thepermanentgarden to our accent side table and finding beautiful inspiration to incorporate this season from the book ‘Provence Style’ decorating with French country flare. Hope your Monday is going well.

Whenever I feel I need a post of energy or if my s

Whenever I feel I need a post of energy or if my stomach is a bit upset, I will make my favorite ‘Iced Golden Dairy Latte’ recipe by @40aprons. Since I don’t drink milk, I use plant-based milk. After yesterday’s treatment, I find this drink helps. Golden turmeric drinks are known for its health benefits. You can drink this cold or if you prefer a creamer version, you can simply mix all ingredients in a small saucepan or pot and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for about 10 minutes or until fragrant and flavorful. Strain the drink through a fine strainer into mugs and top with a pinch of cinnamon and enjoy!
