I interrupt my regularly scheduled ‘Friday’s Favorite Finds’ post to feature my halloween inspiration…
I for one, am not into celebrating a ghoulish, bloody or scary halloween – hello..I don’t like being frightened! I’m the girl that will look away when a scary movie trailer comes on TV. However, I don’t mind adding moderate touches of a moody Halloween feel to either a tablescape or this case, my Halloween Sip & Treat inspiration – an easy to host party favorite…cocktails and dessert treats!
The inspiration started with a floral arrangement I had in mind – one that had fall-like colors, a bit dismal, and had a garden-like esthetic with natural elements such as twigs, ivy, and berries. While I would have loved to take the challenge of creating my own arrangement, I instead visited one of my favorite local florists to bring my vision to life.
Enjoy viewing my ‘Sip & Treat’ inspiration…
By adding dark colored treats, like chocolate, it lends itself to the dark and moody look of the ‘Sips & Treats’ table.
At first sight, these gummy snakes candy will make you shout “ewww!” Garnish it on a glass of your halloween signature drink and it may just have your guests spooked.
If you’re looking to have a few friends over for a ‘Halloween Sips & Treats’ and would like to create this look, follow my steps below:
- Black table linen: You can either stop at your local fabric store and pick out a black textured fabric or you can purchase black halloween netting from any party supply store. (Many stores are having big halloween sales now!)
- Black Glassware/Cake Stand/Bowls: Add some haunt to your Sip & Treat table by displaying your cocktails and treats in black glassware. I was lucky enough to find my black silver-rimmed glassware while antiquing but here are a few options I found, here, here and here. Black cake glass option found, here.
- Halloween Party Decor: for this look, I only added a skull.
- Natural Elements: I purchased my grapewood branches from Home Goods but I also found a similar one here.
- Florals: For added texture and extra dimension to your “dark-side garden” appearance, strategically place green floral fillers like leather leaf fern and/or fall ornamental grass greenery. I asked my florist to write down the name of the flowers he included in my flower arrangement – they include red roses, wax flowers, hypericum berry, stock, black euc, alstromeria, ivy, thistle, plumes, salah, coxcomb and yarrow.
- A Signature Halloween Drink: Put the finishing touch on your signature party drink by adding black and white seasonal paper straws or garnish with creepy halloween candy like my gummy snakes or you can use black licorice. For easy halloween cocktail recipes and serving ideas, click here.
- Dark desserts/treats: head on over to your favorite baked goods shop to pick up a variety of tasty chocolate treats.

Happy Friday!
