Fall – it’s a dramatic array of colors, aromas, and opportunities to gather with family and friends. For today’s post, I’m sharing ideas that may help you enjoy this time of year, spent outdoors. I’m featuring ways to highlight fall as you dine with friends, or simply decorate your outdoor space with the season’s bounty.
Tips for cozy ways to decorate your outdoor living space.
Decorating for the fall is a great way to enjoy the season more and this includes your outdoor space as well, before winter sets-in. Since we didn’t get to open up our deck this summer, we were thrilled to be back home in time to uncover and clean our outdoor furniture and decorate for the fall! My goal was to create the coziest ways to decorate our outdoor living space. I wanted to setup an outdoor environment for us and our guests by displaying autumn decor all around the deck.
From seasonal decor and cozy styling, to hosting tips, let’s take a look at how I transformed our outdoor deck space for fall!
Celebrate autumn with fall’s best seasonal decor
It goes without saying the easiest and most popular way to make an impact on your outdoor space is decorate with pumpkins and seasonal flowers. As you exit out of our kitchen doorway and enter onto our deck, you are greeted with a charming vignette of different-sized, neutral-colored pumpkins and a display of cherry-colored mums.
Offer a festive autumnal treat to your guests
Dessert is the point of fall, am I right?! Providing a fall treat for your guests can be easy and effortless. Welcome your guests by treating them with a deliciously warm cup of pumpkin spice latte, accompanied with a moist and fluffy apple cider donut. An easy and yummy tasty treat!
Add pops of color and layer on the texture
The earth shows off the most brilliant colors of golds, reds, oranges, and browns. When it came to decorating and styling our outdoor deck space, I decided to introduce a new accent color…navy blue! I have to admit, I was kind of nervous because I am so partial to grey, cream, and taupe tones that I wasn’t sure if I would like it. To accentuate the navy blue hue of the outdoor pillows, I found these vibrant gold, super soft chunky knit throws from Threshold. I love how the combination adds vivid color and texture. Adding large comfy throws this time of year to your outdoor living space, is a wonderful way for guests to grab and snuggle up in warmth.
Contrasting shades of peachy, pink roses are displayed on the ottoman tray in this Hearth & Hand large clear Jug Vase. This oversized rattan tray was a score at HomeGoods from about three years ago, that we never used! It was a perfect addition that added plenty of texture to the top of the ottoman.
Similar hues of golden yellow vases and peachy orange blooms are displayed on the outdoor dining table, housed in these adorable Hearth & Home mini glass jugs. Check your local Target store because these mini jugs were on clearance!
Seasonal decor
Add charm and light with a fall scented candle. I found this Better Homes and Gardens, Hammered Metal Bowl Gold Candle in a Soft Cashmere Amber scent. For a natural fall effect, I displayed a few mini white pumpkins on the ottoman tray and side tables. Additional pumpkins in fall color tones of golden yellow and forest green velvet are also displayed. The velvet pumpkins also adds to the contrasting texture of the natural pumpkins.
Bring on the heat…let’s get warm and cozy
Outdoor fireplaces, fire pits, heat lamps, and patio heaters can extend the seasonal enjoyment when entertaining outdoors. Our previous outdoor patio heater died on us so we selected this new propane gas patio heater that radiates a good amount of heat, keeping us and our guests leisurely comfortable, toasty, and warm. To add some more warmth to the chilly air, additional heating, ventless fire pit tabletop fire bowls were added to parts of the deck space. We love how these tabletop fire bowls can be used indoors too. These areas will definitely add to the warm ambiance to take the chill off a cool crisp autumn day.
With the change of seasons from summer to fall, it may soon come to a close but it doesn’t mean you have to stay indoors. Fall is about feeling cozy and finding comfort. I hope you’ve been inspired to take your outdoor space into the new season. So call up your friends and make this fall the “funnest” fall of all.
Cheers!
