It was too pretty this past weekend not to dine al fresco, so after sharing yesterday’s post on my Salsa Verde Steak Salad, today I wanted to share with you how I brought the fresh look of springtime to my outdoor dining table, where we shared that delicious meal!
In order to bring nature’s elements to the table, I clipped these branches off of a tree in our backyard and took a petal from my DIY plant arrangement I made for a more delicate feel that added color.
I caught this busy little bee buzzing around and checking out all the flower petals.
When dining outdoors, I like to use fresh flowers as the centerpiece but only during the early morning or early evening when the sun is not at its brightest because sometimes florals can die quicker when hit with the afternoon sun for a long period of time. I wanted to create an arrangement that resembled a pretty bouquet of flowers so I purchased a few plants and a flower pot from Lowe’s and put it all together.
These are the plant names that I used for the arrangement: (1) Fort Hill Creeping Phlox, (1) Lithodora, (1) Juncus Grass, (2) Blue Moon Phlox, (3) Variegated Vinca – I love the trailing Variegated Vinca that resembles a vine. I purchased three of these plants so that they can drape from all sides of the flower pot. I used a combination of colors; purple, pink, blue and green that contrasted nicely with this light mint green tablecloth.
I happen to have flatware that has enamel coated handles that were an exact match to the tablecloth! I purchased these last year but found similar ones, here. To add contrast, while still maintaining the airy-light feel of the table, I went with a cream colored cotton dinner napkin.
In order to have this table flow nicely from early evening into the late evening, I added six white tealight candle holders that have a variation of design cut-outs so that the flickering light of the candles emits a beautiful glow!
In case you like any of the items I used, I listed where I purchased them below. Happy Spring!
