HOW TO STYLE AND WHERE TO BUY THE MOST REALISTIC FAUX FLOWERS

Quality Artificial Flowers

Fresh flowers is always my first choice but if I can get my hands on where to buy the most realistic artificial flowers, I’m all for it! Artificial flowers require no maintenance on your part. You won’t need to water them or clip them or give them access to sunlight. Bonus is you get to use them over and over again by styling and rearranging them in different ways.

Have you ever had a gorgeous arrangement of fresh flowers sitting on your coffee table or dining table and thought…“I wish they can live forever!” Well, after getting this ‘real touch’, English Garden Bouquet a few weeks ago, I was so in love with the high quality that I decided to get a few more to make a large arrangement for our ottoman tray that sits in our living room. The vendor seems to be sold out of the light pink ones but this cream colored English Garden bouquet is just as beautiful! If interested, get them while they’re still available!

TRAY STYLING

How to make fake flowers look real

This bouquet came tied with a raffia ribbon and bundled with a mix of English Garden Roses, Peonies and Seeded Eucalyptus. To make the flower arrangement look more realistic (as if I clipped them from the garden), I removed the seeded eucalyptus and just left the bundle of garden roses and peonies in tack. With this specific bouquet, having the same light pink floral color palette makes these artificial blooms look real.

  • If you purchase a tied bouquet of faux flowers, the easiest thing to do is to simply place two or more (depending on how large of an arrangement you want) in a vessel without take the bundle apart. That is what I did here on our ottoman tray. I wouldn’t mix other types of artificial blooms with this arrangement because it would interfere with the texture and color and it wouldn’t look realistic. Lots of one color verses a variety makes more of a statement then several mixed together.
  • After you have placed your tied bouquets in a vase, pull up a few stems and gently bend the neck of the bloom to make it appear more realistic as fresh blooms look – that’s what I did for the bottom blooms of this arrangement – . giving it a naturally soft, droopy look.
  • Just like a flower arrangement, the vessel will determine the shape and scale of your blooms. I used this white Orion Flower Pot for this specific arrangement. It was the best size in width and height and I didn’t need to fold the stems in order for each bouquet to fit inside.

How to arrange fake flowers to make them appear realistic when using two or more flower stems

  • For this arrangement, I used two different types of flower stems – Peonies and Ranunculus. I chose to go with colors in the same color shade that compliment each other.
  • Hide or remove the larger leaves from your artificial flower stems. I did this with the pink peonies you see here as well as an arrangement of faux hydrangeas of I have too (not shown here). Doing this will in turn soften the look of the arrangement and have it looking more natural.
  • When choosing a vase for your artificial flowers, consider using a vase simple in color and design. You want your eye to be drawn to the flower arrangement, not the vase.
  • In nature, flower stems never grow at the same time, so create a similar effect in your arrangement by varying your stem heights.
  • Twist and bend the flower neck and flower stems easily. Ranunculus flowers are known to naturally move throughout the day to orient themselves in the best position to receive light. You want to mimic that look with your artificial flower arrangement, when using blooms like Ranunculus, Tulips, or Gerber daisies.
  • If your stems are long, fold them to your desired length so that they fit nicely in your vase. I never cut the stems because it gives me the option to adjust an arrangement if I want to use a taller vase.
