A Festive Tablescape

The Centerpiece

The first thing you want to do is to spice up your party decor and welcome guests to the celebration with a gold fiesta balloon. Onto the tablescape – I created this neutral table centerpiece that included tones of creams, white and gold and for added brightness, I went with flowers of the same kind that different hues of white, dark pink and purple. The elements on the centerpiece are simple, yet when styled together, they create an eye-catching festive look.

I started out by laying a cotton Macrame table runner I had found at Pier 1 (found this similar one online). I love how this handwoven textile brings such texture to the table. I found three ceramic vases at Target’s clearance section. I love the textured detail of the white floral motif that resembles the look like lace, when seen from afar. In the Pier 1 clearance section, they had a variety of cute gold and white cactus table decor (check out this page for alternatives). A few votive candles housed in clear glass votive candle holders was the finishing touch to the centerpiece.

The Place Settings

For the place settings, I pulled out my white wood carved charger plates I had purchased a couple of years ago at HomeGoods. (found alternatives here,  here, and here). To compliment the chargers, I went with neutral dishware. Since I had three accent colors from the flower arrangements to choose from, purple was the one that stood out for me so I went with that color when choosing the purple dinner napkins with fringe detail (alternative color). To bring out jewel tones to the neutral elements on the table, I added gold flatware and amber-colored vintage glassware. A small clipping of a flower stem was placed on the flatware to soften and dress up each place setting.

The Place Cards

I found these fun and festive Cinco de Mayo mustaches and decided to adhere one to each place card. Rather than writing each guest name on the card, I simply wrote Señora and Señor for gender distinction.

Food and Beverage Recipe Ideas

There’s no need to slave in the kitchen to whip up a festive meal! Trader Joe’s had all I needed to serve up a delicious meal! I incorporated delicious authentic food options.

Appetizers: Pico de Gallo Salsa & Tortilla Chips / Trader Joe’s Mini Chicken Tacos

Entree: Trader Joe’s Carne Asada Autentica – We cooked this sliced beef sirloin on the grill and it was perfection!

Sides: Street Corn and Cilantro-lime Rice.  For the best street corn, you must try House Becomes Home interior recipe! It is sooo amazingly good!! To make the cilantro-lime rice, it’s pretty simple. Just cook steamed white rice as you normally would and when cooked, add fresh chopped cilantro and lime juice from a fresh lime, combine and it’s ready to serve!

Dessert: I had a craving to make a pineapple upside down cake. I used Duncan Hines Signature Pineapple Supreme cake mix – it’s made with real pineapple juice. I layered fresh pineapples slices on the bottom of the cake pan, verses the caned one.

Signature Cocktail: Orange-lime Margarita. This citrusy cocktail will leave your guests wanting more.

Yield: 4 cups

Ingredients

8 oz. orange juice from fresh oranges (we used approx. 7-8 of them)

2 limes (use 1 to slice for garnish)

5 oz. Tequila

3 oz. Grand Marnier

1 oz. Orange Liqueur (used Patron Citronge)

2 oz Simple Syrup (add to desired taste)

Directions

Combine all the ingredients and pour into a pitcher filled crushed ice. Garnish with a slice of orange and a slice of lime.

Before your guests arrive, the last thing to do is to be sure to have music playing in the background to complete the festive ambiance. You can open up Pandora or have Alexa play Spanish guitar or mariachi music.

I hope you enjoyed today’s post and are inspired to create your own fiesta this weekend! For a closer look at the details of this tablescape, click here to see a video snippet.
