THE INSPIRATION

One of the colors that elicit the feeling of spring for me is yellow. Something caught my eye as I looked out the window from the second floor of our home. I noticed behind the fence of our backyard was a large Forsythia shrub in a stunning vibrant yellow. I automatically thought how pretty this color would be if I paired it with a classic blue. I decided to get my garden clippers, head outside and then create an impromptu tablescape! This palette captures an eye-catching scene where sunshine meets the blue skies! It’s a cheery tablescape that is perfect for a causal breakfast or brunch.

To create this table centerpiece, I knew my blue and white ginger jar would be the perfect piece. Ginger jars timeless style in a modern era are still trending pieces as one of decor’s most well-known vessels. I inserted the yellow flowering branch clippings in the ginger jar. The visionary in me wanted to add several more branches to the centerpiece, creating a lush arrangement but I knew it wasn’t ideal. For a bit of drama, I kept a few of the branches very tall however, by only having several branches in the ginger jar, it is thin enough to not obstruct the view when conversing with guests.

PLACE SETTING

In order to not compete with the blue and white motif of the ginger jar centerpiece, I kept it neutral by covering the table with a white tablecloth. For the place setting, I used my clear glass dinner plates in a hobnail pattern, layed a navy blue dinner napkin and then set the salad plate atop. Lemons bring a bright pop of color and creates a classic and fresh table setting. Lemons can easily be become a perfect place card accent by affixing a name card with a push pin into the lemon.

Gold finish and white matte handle flatware surrounds the plates. To keep with the color flow and complete the place setting,  I combined two of my vintage glassware – one is a yellow colored glass and the other is a crystal cut clear glass.
