After watching countless design episodes on HGTV, we are always inspired on how we can change or add things in our home. One of the rooms we talk about often is our living room. There are three walls in that space that we would like to utilize better. For one of the walls, an idea was to install a built-in bookcase. But since we want to utilize another large wall on the opposite side of this space for built-in coat closets, we were afraid our living room may feel overcrowded with the heavy structure so we decided to instead purchase an Etagere Bookcase.
I’ve had my eye on this stylish bookcase for quite some time and since it doesn’t add so much weight to the room – it’s the perfect accent for our living space. We love the open feel of the chic iron metal frame design and I love the gold finish! While I had different intentions on how I would have used the built-in bookcase, I decided since this 4-tier glass shelf bookcase was open and airy, I would use it to spotlight a few of my favorite decor accents – since I rotate my decor accessories often.
I must have spent a few hours going back and forth on adding things onto the shelves and taking away. I didn’t want the bookcase to feel too heavy. I wanted to create movement for your eye, add personality, bring in shapes, height and color that included sculptural pieces, and pretty objects. So, I displayed stacks of books, a leaning framed print, flowers, vases, scented candles and candle sticks that incorporate both height and a sculptural & artful aspect.
I’m sure I will continually rearrange our Etagere Bookcase and I already know it will be a favorite to style for the seasons and the holidays! I’d love to know, what are your favorite accessories for styling your bookcase? Let me know in the comments section below!
