Welcome! Do come in for a tour of my Halloween Soi·rée
When it comes to decorating the dining room for hosting a Halloween dinner party, my goal is that it turns out to be one that is wickedly beautiful and elegant. Masks are welcomed to this Halloween dinner and perhaps fitting for a ‘GAL-LOWEEN’ evening with your favorite gals!
For this dinner party tablescape, the decor is all about being transported to nature…in this case, a dark garden, of sorts. For the showstopping main focus, black butterflies hang from the crystal chandelier as well attached clusters of butterflies at different depths on the back accent wall – all of which create movement and dimension in the dining room. The moody palette included black and white, sprinkled with glitzy gold accents, clear crystal, and decorative floral motifs from the fabric used on the table to the decor pieces.
The floral table-centerpiece arrangement were a blending of light & fresh blooms and just a hint of dark romantic tones. Black butterflies sporadically hovering over the flowers – enhancing the overall dramatic contrast. To pair that, charming touches of dark red grapes and pears were used. Foraged greenery were incorporated in the floral centerpiece, as well as the arrangement sitting on the buffet cabinet behind the dining table – creating a scene from an enchanted forest.
Sophisticated black glassware with silver rims, a candelabra, and candle stick, add to the drama of the table.
Add a Mysterious Vibe
A Black Butterfly Soiree is not complete without this Mysterious Venetian Butterfly Lady Masquerade Halloween Party Mask.
I found this matte black and gold accent candelabra at HomeGoods. It is meant to hold pillar candle holders but because of how tall it is, I decided to instead place my vintage clear glass tea light candle holders in its place. I love how sparkly and glam it looks, when lit.
In keeping with the forest-garden like theme, I used my gold twig designed flatware. These adorable gold mini shovel dessert spoons are so fitting for this forest/garden theme!
I found ribbon at Joann Fabrics that looked like a row of black butterflies. I decided to carefully snip each butterfly off the ribbon and secured it with adhesive to the top of my clear crystal napkin ring holders, making it appear as a butterfly has landed. To contrast the look, I used crisp white dinner napkins. The black dinner plate has this eerie smokey web design look to it – I found a set at HomeGoods.
