Last week, I shared on my insta-stories, a bookshelf wall I had installed on one of the bare walls in our kitchen (I’ll be sure to feature it here, in case you missed it). With a store-like display of all my cookbooks, it has me even more inspired to delve into each one of them and try out a new recipe! I love to try out different recipes ranging from breakfast and appetizers to dinner entrees and dessert. I mark the ones I really enjoy so that I can reference it whenever we host a dinner party or gathering.
The other day I purchased a pint Haagen-Dazs ice cream (it’s one of three of my favorite brands of ice cream). I tried a new flavor…vanilla, tangerine and shortbread ice cream. While it wasn’t my absolute favorite, it was still quite good and I thought if only I had something else that I can pair it with to bring out the flavors. So I pulled out my trusty Barefoot Contessa at home cookbook and tried out her cranberry orange scones recipe. These light and flaky scones were so good and when you drizzle the orange glaze on top – it adds that perfect amount of sweetness!
While the scones are perfect to enjoy for breakfast, alongside a hot cup of coffee, they are even better when paired with a mini scoop of flavored ice cream – especially if you serve the scones warm from the oven! Whether you are hosting a brunch or afternoon tea party, this would make a wonderful addition to your menu! My vintage glass luncheon plates make for a lovely presentation when serving to your guests. I purchased mine from an antique store but I found several owners who are selling them in their Etsy store.
Give it a try and enjoy!
