Will you be hosting a Memorial Day cookout this weekend? Need some inspiration? Keep reading to see how I’m proudly paying tribute to the USA with a star-spangled celebration. I’m sharing simple and easy ways to add a classic patriotic touch to your outdoor table to make this Memorial Day or Fourth of July a red, white, and blue success.
How to create the look of a Patriotic Tablescape
Dining Table: The warmer temps are here – take the fun outside! There is something special about eating outdoors during the warmer months so bring the festivities outdoors with an effortless tablescape of reds, white, and blues. It’s a wonderful way to celebrate with friends and family.
Floral Centerpiece: For a larger arrangement, use hydrangeas in a blue shade and house them in a white vase or planter. These cloudlike flowers make a lofty impression on your dining table.
Lighting: Lanterns enclosed with candles will cast just the right glow for your outdoor evening entertaining.
Place Setting: For texture, use placemats that are made out of woven seagrass or natural jute, for example. Simple white glass dinner plates creates a balance when adding accent colors to your table. The white container holding the hydrangeas and the white pillar candles in the lanterns creates a cohesive look with the white dinner plates. I went with gold flatware that coordinates well with the gold lantern. I refer to these as the ‘jewels’ of the table! Use striped dinner napkins like these red & navy striped with trim. Gingham or Buffalo Check dinner napkins in a combination red, white, and/or blue will work too! Tuck small American flags into each dinner napkin to give the table a patriotic feel and to pay tribute to the special Memorial Day and Fourth of July holidays. Vibrant red drinking glassware will not only add a pop of color to your table, it will make a statement. Finally, to complete the setting, add one of these Patriotic Star Sugar Cookies on each dessert plate – not only is it a festive touch, it’s a great way to welcome guests to their seat!
I hope you have been inspired to go ahead and break out your red, white, and blue, and host a patriotic-themed celebration commemorating Memorial Day, Independence Day, or even Labor Day.
Grilling is one of the most quintessential gatherings there is, during Patriotic observances. Tune in to tomorrow’s post where I will be featuring an all-american menu, buffet-style for feeding a crowd! Build your own Hot Dog Bar anyone?
