AROUND TOWN: French Patisserie {Gaby et Jules} in Pittsburgh

A place that I dream of visiting one day soon is Paris! With my love for desserts, I’ve been told by many, that Paris is known for their amazing patisseries and for their incredible buttery and flaky croissants. So when I received this a couple of days before Valentine’s, I was ecstatic to find out that it was from a pastry shop, here in Pittsburgh!

May I introduce to you Gaby et Jules

When I visited Gaby et Jules over the weekend, I was like a kid in a candy store and wanted one of everything! Once my purchase was made, I carefully carried my bag of sweets and couldn’t wait to get home, make some hot tea and create a mini sample trio…not to worry, I didn’t eat them all, I shared!

‘Le Jivara’

Housemade semi-sweet crust, milk chocolate ganache, salted peanuts, topped with a milk chocolate flower.  A rich decadent pastry, the sweet crust mixed with the milk chocolate was pure heaven!

  ‘L’Opera’

Almond-hinted cake, chocolate ganache, chocolate-miroir glaze. This had a hint of coffee flavor, rich, creamy and oh so good!

I didn’t get the names of these pastries but the one to the left has fresh pears in the center with an outer circle of a cake. This was so perfectly light that it melted in your mouth – it was like biting into summertime! The pink pastry is a creamy mousse that has a raspberry flavor and has a tart quality to it.

 Macarons

Some flavors I picked up are: Passion Fruit, Lavender, Raspberry, Rose, Lemon, Almond, Earl Grey. I loved them all but my top 3 favorites are the Passion Fruit, the Raspberry and the Earl Grey!
