Around Town: AFTERNOON SUMMER PICNIC AT GREENDANCE WINERY

It’s been a while since I wrote a post on my ‘Around Town’ series – where I write about new places I’ve visited in my surrounding neighborhood, so I thought I would share with you one of my favorite places that I stopped over yesterday afternoon.

Surrounded by acres of farmland, Greendance Winery at Sandhill is nestled in the picturesque countryside of southwestern Pennsylvania. With an offering of over 40 wines, live weekend entertainment, the winery also has a farm store that carries homemade products (made from their kitchen on the farm) such as gourmet jams & jellies, salsa, baked goods like chocolate-raspberry cookies and half-baked pies (my favorites are the cherry pie and the Traditional New York Style Cheesecake with raspberry topping…YUM!)

With a cafe on the property that offers gourmet deli sandwiches, it’s a great place to enjoy an outdoor picnic luncheon paired with your favorite wine! With that in mind, I packed up my picnic basket with some essentials to include, plastic plates, flatware and shatterproof wine glasses. No table is complete without fresh flowers so yes, I did bring a few jars filled with a summery flower mix, that I later gave to my mom (wink, wink).
