As the cooler fall air approaches, we anticipate more cozy indoor at-home entertaining. Hosting an intimate gathering with a few close friends or for on-the-fly entertaining, is a great excuse to take the comfiest decor season and give your bar cart a fall refresh! I’ve transitioned our bar cart into a ‘fall-themed wine cart’ by incorporating seasonal items that was quite effortless. One of my absolute favorite pairings are chocolate & wine! Chocolate is the confectionary match to wine and with anticipated flavors of the season, what better way to to introduce fall favorite treats than by combining your bar cart into a festive confectionary wine cart! It’s a simple no-fuss, party treat and an easy & elegant way to entertain.
I wanted to make our wine cart apart of our room’s design – making it the focal point by combining function and form, yet mindful of making it apart of our living room design esthetic. When styling with your curating decor accessories, keep it minimal and not overcrowd your cart. Here are a few tips on how to decorate your bar cart into a fall festive wine cart.
Bring in fresh seasonal flowers
Fresh blooms are definitely required, so do leave space on your bar cart for a floral arrangement. It doesn’t mean an expensive trip to the flower shop, you can easily pick up affordable stems from your local Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods for a beautiful selection of seasonal flowers. Keep it simple by sticking with one to two different kind of flowers. I kept my arrangement simplistic by only using seeded eucalyptus and white hydrangeas. By adding a floral arrangement to the top of your cart, you are adding natural beauty and visual height.
Mix in natural textures of seasonal decor accents
If you are going to use greenery, like seeded eucalyptus or silver dollar branches, layer a bed of it on the bottom of your cart and add a real pumpkin for a fall festive touch. I placed a large white pumpkin and a small one on top of that for a layered effect.
Warm brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla and rich pumpkin puree are quintessential fall aromas, so I added an incredible ‘Pumpkin Brulee’ fall scented candle. The candle is a wonderful addition (reminiscent of sitting in a bakery) when enjoying bites of the tasty fall chocolate treats! This candle comes housed in a stunning gold glass vessel – adding sparkle against the natural textures.
Go for the Gold
Achieve that high-end, luxe look by sprinkling metallic gold decor pieces. Besides the gold glass scented candle, I glammed it up the wine cart by showcasing my favorite wine glasses that resemble the amber jewel tones of the autumn season. This gold Decorative Acorn Box was a great festive fall decor piece to add to the wine cart. It is perfect for storing individually packaged chocolates.
Add in the sweet fall flavors
Pumpkin might be the obvious fall flavor but you can include an assortment of classic, melt-in-your-mouth rich caramels, your favorite chocolate truffles and even a jar of harvest popcorn. A chic and non fussy way to display these treats are to assemble them on a tray. I used our marble gold-rim round tray that coordinates with the rest of the decor items on the cart.
When adding bottles of wine to your cart, no need fill every inch of your cart. Simply display no more than two bottles. For some suggestions on some fall flavored wines to try this season, check out this article and this one.
Create an inviting spot
Create an inviting spot, keep it simple, not over-styled so that it shows off your simplistic vignette. Station your wine cart in an unused corner of your space or up the drama by setting it in front of a statement wall. For a dash of elegance, I stationed our wine cart in front of our wallpapered wall that showcased well as the backdrop.
