As of late, I’ve noticed that I have been using a lot more glass dome cloches in our home as a decorative accent to display decor items. Originally, glass domes were used to protect delicate flowers or collectibles. Nowadays, we see glass dome cloches are a staple must-have in our home – an entertaining necessity. They are used more and more to display desserts, food, and cheese trays. We also see glass domes used to showcase faux orchids, a plant terrarium, and used on our holiday tablescapes as centerpieces – filled with festive decor.
Today, I wanted to share 4 ways to style glass dome cloches in your home and what you can display under it.
Look #1. Display on your Bookshelf or Coffee table
On our newly added bookcase, rather than simply adding a candle to the stack of books, I added depth by placing a tray and a glass cloche on top of the candle.
The same concept was done here on our side table but in a smaller version. I used our glass pillar candle holder base to place our votive scented candle and covered it with this candle dome. I like to display a few of my favorite fragrant candles under glass dome cloches so that I won’t burn it out so quickly (because I love it so much) as well as pretty designed candle jars.
Look #2. Display on your kitchen counter or island
Have any vintage china passed down to you from your grandmother? Or perhaps you have ‘special occasion’ tea cups or mugs that you only use when entertaining. If so, displaying them on your kitchen counter, kitchen island or if you have open shelving or a built-in kitchen cabinet, this is a pretty way to showcase them. I think this is a great way to remove items from inside a cabinet or closet and display them in an artful way. I used this gold beaded tray (found at HomeGoods) and placed these teacups and saucers (found at an antique store) underneath the glass dome.
Look #3. Display on your Entry table or Dining table
I think grouping various sized candlesticks adds an architectural element on a table or vignette. Here, I showcase my antique brass candlesticks and added two rose blooms to add a soft touch to this display. I love the pop of jewel-like tone to the all white decor pieces. This look would look beautiful on a foyer table or a dining table.
Look #4. Display on a Table Place Setting
We are always looking for special ways to add to our tablescape when entertaining. For look #4, I placed a mini bouquet of yellow carnations inside a glass votive candle holder. I then placed a small glass dome on top. To personalize this, you can attach a place card with your guest name and tie a ribbon around the top of the dome. It’s a special way to greet your guests as they make their way to their seat. It would be even more special, if it is a take-home gift!
Do you own glass dome cloches? How do you style and display them in your home? I’d love to know some other creative ways so do share in the comments section below!
