When it comes to color, I pretty much always choose a monochromatic color palette but since it’s summer and I recently purchased beautiful yellow glassware, I knew I wanted to style a tablescape that was different than my norm.
Yellow + Blue + Pink
I used these tones to evoke a mood instead of a traditional theme. Bursts of hues, like yellow, blue and dark pink, make for a whimsical summer palette and give my outdoor summer tablescape a carefree yet cohesive look. Styled against a blue background, it allowed my vibrant yellow vintage colored glassware to stand out. I mixed both vintage glassware and flatware with modern dinnerware that included a greek key design and lucite chairs for seating.
HOW TO DO IT
To start, choose three hues – one color should be a calming color and be used as the backdrop for your table, hence the tablecloth. For balance go with clean white china place settings so that the two vibrant contrasting colors of your glassware and flowers pop. By using a second set of clear glassware (for water), and silver flatware – this will allow these pieces to blend more into the tablescape. Simple, right?
So go ahead, add some vibrant hues to your tablescape for your next summer get-together!
