You are loved…Happy Valentine’s Day!
While we enjoy trying out a new restaurant in town, when it comes to the Valentine’s day holiday, we prefer to beat the crowds (and the increased prices) and spend a quiet evening in the comfort of our home.
If you’re staying in tonight with your love, I’m sharing inspiration on how you can create a romantic table setting for two. There’s nothing more romantic than an intimate dinner by candlelight.
Find a View for your Table location
The first thing I do when creating a table for two is finding the perfect location. Since we have a dining table that seats eight, it is not ideal for an intimate setting so I use our breakfast table and relocate it to an area for a different scenery. Whether you place your table in front of a fireplace or a picture window (like I did here), both are places where you and your partner can enjoy the view.
Valentine’s Day Floral Table Centerpiece
When it comes to creating a Valentine’s day inspired floral arrangement for your table, you won’t have any problems finding roses in any color…they’re everywhere! These spray roses were the perfect size and since they come in bunches, they made filling a small bowl very easy! If you want to save on cost, you can use florals that are not roses and choose colors that compliment your table theme, whether it’s all red or a mix of traditional Valentine’s day hues.
If you know you will be expecting flowers for Valentine’s, you can wait until you receive them to place in a vessel and use them on your table for two (wink).
Create a festive, yet romantic setting with Valentine’s Day Red Heart Balloons
Call ahead to your local party store and pre-order your heart-shape Valentine’s day balloons for pick-up. I got creative and instead of paying extra for balloon weights, I simply used a small piece of scotch tape and adhered the end of the balloon strings to the floor. To cover the tape, I sprinkled some rose petals…it also added to the romantic vibe!
Create a Neutral Valentine’s Day Table Setting with a Pop of Color
I placed a white tablecloth that is designed with a glittery silver threading but a clean, crisp white table linen will do! I used our white bone china with silver trim dinnerware and paired it with gold flatware. I would have used silver flatware but I need to polish them! I found cute Valentine’s day napkins and simply placed it on the salad plate. If you don’t have any Valentine’s themed napkins, don’t fret. You can use a linen napkin in your desired color and place a greeting card, present, or love note for your partner to read as he or she approaches their seat.
For the pop of color, I placed red-colored wine glasses next to the clear water glass that coordinates well with the dinnerware.
The last detail is creating ambiance with candlelight! I placed two mercury glass votive candle holders on opposite sides of the floral centerpiece. And don’t forget to turn on your favorite romantic playlist!
