How To Host An At-Home Easter Tea Gathering

DesignByOccasion

I’m excited to share this feature with you and reveal tips on how to host an at-home Easter tea gathering with your family or favorite gal pals! The details of this photoshoot was captured by the fabulous Autumn Stankay of SkySight Photography. So let’s dive right in, shall we!

The Easter holiday can be a bit tricky when it comes to the weather outside. It can either be a warm spring day or there is still a chill in the air, where it may be a bit too brisk to enjoy sitting outside. Therefore, I was inspired to create a spring look, indoors. The mood and palette of this tablescape design was inspired by the large (artificial) Boxwood ball that I purchased at HomeGoods. It served as the perfect accent piece and paired with freshly cut long-stem flowers, it evoked a springtime garden feel to this afternoon gathering.

I love an all-white tablescape, it brings a relaxed calmness to the table that feels light, delicate and airy, with a touch of femininity. By adding fun patterns like this white and gold polka dot dinnerware (also purchased at HomeGoods), it created a fun pop and a layered effect to the white polka dot fabric. Matching gold flatware was used for that added sparkle.

Placing your food items on a 3-tier tray is a perfect way to display your sweets, baked goods and tea sandwiches. It also saves room on the table to place other pretty things!

How-To Tips:

Preparation

  • Remember to prepare ahead of time as possible. By decorating the table and purchasing your baked goods & sweets one day before the event, you will have plenty of time to just prepare the tea sandwiches and cocktails the day of.

Ambiance

  • Incorporate elements of the season into entertaining by bringing in some freshly cut seasonal blooms to capture the essence of spring. Try sticking to 1-2 colors for your color palette in the linens and table cloth. This will allow the food and surrounding elements on the table to remain the center of attention!
  • Add a small quantity of Easter decor to your table as subtle accents.

Eats

  • Purchase an array of baked goods from your favorite local bakery shop(s) and cut them in small pieces. A rule of thumb is a variety of scones, pastries and sweets.
  • Make an assortment of finger sandwiches like Cranberry & Chicken Salad on wheat bread and Cucumbers & Garden Vegetable Cream Cheese on white bread. Remember to cut off the crust and cut into small dainty pieces. Make the sandwiches no more than an hour before serving and keep them wrapped in plastic wrap so that the bread remains moist.
  • Delight your guests with some mini Easter bunny sugar cookies.

Drinks

  • Have a wonderful pot of freshly steeped tea, using loose-leaf teas such as Earl Grey, English Breakfast, Orange Pekoe, or Peppermint. And add a little flair to your table by adding sugar cubes.
  • Create a cocktail that is light and refreshing like a Peach & Mango Bellini (1 oz of Peach Nectar, 1 oz of Mango Nectar, top off with chilled Prosecco, garnish with a slice of peach)

I found that planning an afternoon tea party for an at-home Easter celebration, or any occasion for that matter is the easiest to organize and host. So I hope this has inspired you to want to create your own Easter Tea gathering at-home or perhaps catch up with old friends and enjoy a relaxed afternoon over a cup of tea. As always, thanks for stopping by and reading! xo
