If you didn’t get to read yesterday’s post, I talked about how vintage-style home accessories seem to be the current trend. Today, I wanted to share with you how I add just one vintage item to my more modern home decor items that adds some personality and style. My personal favorite vintage items are milk glass, opalescent glass and colored drinking glasses!
If you follow my blog, you may recognize this vase. It’s my absolute favorite! Back in the day, this vase was used to hold ivy and when the ivy grew it would grow around the circular part of the vase, creating a topiary affect. Cool, right?! I have this vase sitting on a tray and grouped with a white and gold colorblock bowl and a white urn.
Here is my white milk glass vase that I use on my bar cart to hold my paper straws.
This vintage opalescent box with hobnail design was once made to hold cigarettes. I don’t smoke so the alternative is to store matches and placing it near a candle. I bet you’re wondering how do I light them? Well, I simply cut the striker off of the box the matches come in and tuck it on the side of the inside of the glass box.
While this milk glass cup is used for drinking out of, it’s also great for displaying my business cards.
Also on my desk is this pretty vintage opalescent tea cup with saucer. Since I have a serious sweet tooth, I like having candy on my desk so housing them in this teacup is a pretty feminine way of displaying them. Oh, and we mustn’t forget a bouquet of flowers next to them!
You can find some of these and other vintage home accessories in my Etsy shop. Happy Wednesday!
