Want to make a delicious and easy Valentine’s dessert? Give this recipe a try, you won’t be disappointed!
I always keep a frozen box of Puff Pastry in my freezer for whenever I want to make an impromptu dessert. For this particular dessert recipe, I knew I wanted to make a fresh custard and thought how good it would be if I can add Grand Marnier to the mixture. So I searched the web and found this video for a Pastry Cream Recipe from Stephanie Jaworski of Joy of Baking. It was so easy to follow and when completed, I took a taste of the pastry cream and it is sooo good!
To achieve the heart-shape, I simply used a 2″ heart-shaped cookie cutter. When baking the puff pastry, be sure to first place parchment paper on your baking tray. Then place your heart-shaped pastry on top of the parchment paper. Tear off another sheet of parchment paper and place it on top of the cut-out pastries, then place another baking tray on top. This will stop the pastry from puffing up and shrinking while baking in the oven.
Sprinkle some powdered sugar on top and add some fun DIY heart toppers and your done.
Enjoy!
