Adorning our home for the holidays is one of my favorite things I look forward to every season! Filling our home with the holiday spirit brings instant cheer from decking out the interior and/or exterior spaces.
Our Christmas decorations came out early November, before the Thanksgiving holiday…something we started since the Pandemic. The centerpiece to to this year’s decor is the three artificial flocked Christmas trees. For years, our annual tradition was to head to the tree farm and pick out a Douglas Fir. There’s something to be said about the natural splendor of bringing the outside in with a real tree, standing tall in its organic beauty. However, in 2020 I had to undergo six months of chemo and in the height of the Pandemic, going out to get a tree was not something we wanted to do. Instead, we ordered an artificial tree online and we love it! So much so, that we decided to put it up again this year. The flocked trees create a winter wonderland vibe with its snowy branches.
Here’s a look at how I decorated our flocked Christmas tree this year and the way I incorporated festive decor in our living room.
I let our home decor take inspiration for how I wanted to decorate. This year’s look was inspired by the sage green accent color we currently have in our living room and the fact that Sugar Paper had introduced their sage green holiday gift wrapping paper and box collection at Target. It was a happy coincidence! I find that a pretty touch to help complete the overall holiday look of our Christmas tree is to wrap gifts and boxes in a paper that coordinates with the color scheme. Gold, sage green, and white palette are the colors on our Christmas tree. It made a big impact against the neutral backdrop of our living room furnishings.
When styling a tree with ribbon, a wired one is commonly used in order to wrap and tuck so that you can achieve that tufted and billowing look, that fills out the tree. I decided to use two types of ribbon, one that is wired and has a two-tone gold color and a sage green satin ribbon. I love how the shiny satin ribbon gives the illusion of it cascading down the tree. The combination of the two different textured and colored ribbons is a luxe focal point on the tree.
The crown of our Christmas tree is this DIY brooch wreath I made. It was the final jewel that set the tone for the tree!
It didn’t take much to create this holiday-winter flower arrangement. You can easily transition everyday blooms by simply adding greenery such as Dusty Miller, Eucalyptus, Cedar and Juniper holiday greens.
I tastefully sprinkled holiday decor throughout by leaning into the season, rather than letting it dominate our home decor.
Happy Holidays dear friends!
