“Bananas are the most powerful exercise food. Eating a banana before and after exercise can replenish the body more than any other food out there.” – Anthony William, Medical Medium
One of my top three favorite fruits are bananas! They are sweet, filling, and can be used to make so many delicious recipes. If you recall this post, I shared a Raw Date Granola recipe from my Medical Medium Life-Changing Foods recipe book where you will discover the hidden healing powers of fruits and vegetables. Since I’ve been trying to add healthier options to my diet, I’ve been taste testing many of the recipes in this book.
Water is definitely the safe bet to a healthy drink but if you are looking for another option and not stray from the healthy side of things, today, I’m sharing this delicious classic banana “milkshake” without the dairy. Yep, no milk or ice cream! What is used to make this shake thick and creamy, you ask? Lots of bananas, dates and coconut water. The fresh vanilla bean and the dusting of cinnamon topped on this cold beverage is so good! Plus, I don’t feel guilty drinking it. I’m thinking about adding freshly grated ginger or blueberries for my next batch!
Want to give it a try? You can find the recipe below.
- 1½" piece of vanilla bean pod, split lengthwise
- 2 frozen bananas
- 4 fresh bananas
- 2 dates, pitted
- 1 cup coconut water
- ⅛ teaspoon cinnamon
- Scrape the seeds from the vanilla bean pod and place them in a blender. Place the remaining ingredients in the blender; blend until smooth and drink up!
Whether you’re looking to perk yourself up in the morning, rehydrate yourself after a workout or as an afternoon pick-me-up, this tasty blend is a perfect beverage option! Give it a try and let me know what you think.
Enjoy!
