Sip, Sip, Hooray!

Pop the bubbly – it’s my BIRTHDAY today!! I look forward to my birthday every year. Ever since I could remember, I loved celebrating my birthday, as if it was my own special holiday. Living with cancer gives me even more reason to look forward to seeing another year!

I woke up this morning to find wrapped presents and breakfast in bed…aww!! We’ll head out into the city later this evening for a celebratory dinner and on Sunday, we will be heading back into the city to see John Mayer in concert – fun times!

With it being my birthday, this occasion is the perfect time to showcase how I styled and decorated a ‘birthday bar cart’. I’m also sharing an easy way to create your very own DIY flower-filled ice cream cone cake topper. Keep reading to see how you can recreate this look!

How to style a ‘Birthday Bar Cart’?

Your bar cart can be the perfect display place so show it off with style! Here are 3 ideas for outfitting a cart that screams birthday celebration.

Have fun decorating.
- Have fun with decor, I displayed a fun bubbly bar sign that I had (similar one, here). It’s an easy way to have guests know, champagne will be served.
- For that garden-like feel, I wrapped one side of the bar cart with this Love and Leaves Wire Garland.
- Nothing is more festive for a birthday than balloons and presents. You can never have too many balloons. Incorporate colors that go with your theme. For this bar cart, I used hues in soft pinks, green, whites, and gold accents. For presents, place a wrapped gift box on the bottom of the cart. Have favors you will be passing out to your guests? This is the perfect spot!
Leave space for flowers. Fresh flowers are a must – they add softness, color, and a lovely aroma.
The Essentials: Be sure to have these bar cart essentials readily available so you won’t find yourself going back and forth to the kitchen.
- Ice bucket, champagne flutes, a bottle of champagne and if you want to be fancy, you can add some fruit juices…mimosa anyone? Add festive beverage napkins, dessert plates, flatware, and a cake knife.
- If you plan on making a wish – don’t forget the birthday candles and matches.

DIY Flower-filled Ice Cream Cones

Waffle ice cream cones filled with blooms is the most delicious cake topper! How perfect, right? I’ve always wanted to make this and summer birthdays are the best times to do this.

Instructions on how you can recreate this look:

Use 2-3 different florals. I used roses, carnations, and filler.
Cut a piece of wet floral foam (that has already been soaked in water).
Place the foam into the ice cream cone.
Poke each of the flower stems into the floral foam.
Fill in any gaps with a larger bloom.

*Optional: I embellished the flower ice cream cones with organza wired butterflies and tied a bow on each ice cream cone with a sheer ribbon.

I loved how pretty this floral arrangement turned out! I used a bouquet pillow floral cage, created by Holly Chapple that my sister gifted me with. Typically, I use glass or pin floral frogs but I’m such a fan of these mechanics!
