I recently featured on my insta story, these vintage light blue glasses that my mother bought for me while antiquing. She knows how much I adore colored glassware and my vintage glassware collection is ever-growing! The best part is my mom only paid $0.50 cents for each one!! Amazing, right?! I was inspired to create an outdoor summer tablescape using these glasses and since I do enjoy using my “nice dishes” on our outdoor dining table, I chose dinnerware that coordinated nicely. So today I wanted to share the details with you…
I decided to layer a simple white square dinner plate (that I wanted to serve as a charger) atop white bone china that has a light blue paisley motif. The dinner plate fit perfectly inside the circular indentation of the square plate. I decided against using my salad plates since it had the same design and I didn’t want to be too “matchy”, so I set them aside (In this instance, I would bring out the pre-plated salad to my guests.) As for the flatware, I added a bit of elegance with my striking gold place setting for that bit of sparkle.
Since my color scheme was blue, I knew the perfect flowers to adorn the center of the table would be blue hydrangeas! I was lucky that the grocery store had an abundance of fresh blue and white hydrangeas to choose from. I housed my cluster of arranged hydrangeas in this clear Serafina Vase that has a beautiful clear & white ombré effect!
Finally, I used my Calvin Klein painted floral dinner napkins in a coordinating blue. I pulled the napkins through my Oleg Cassini crystal napkin rings. To complete the look, I tucked some flower petals inside each napkin ring for a soft and delicate look.
I wanted the look of the table to be light and pretty like the soft clear blue skies and puffy white clouds. By keeping the table essentials monochromatic with the same tone-on-tone and a hint of gold because after all a bit of glamour never hurt anyone…I’m happy of the way it turned out and how airy it looked with the outdoor greenery as the backdrop! Hoping you are feeling inspired to create your own blue-inspired tablescape for summer entertaining!

When it comes to color, I pretty much always choose a monochromatic color palette but since it’s summer and I recently purchased beautiful yellow glassware, I knew I wanted to style a tablescape that was different than my norm.
Yellow + Blue + Pink
I used these tones to evoke a mood instead of a traditional theme. Bursts of hues, like yellow, blue and dark pink, make for a whimsical summer palette and give my outdoor summer tablescape a carefree yet cohesive look. Styled against a blue background, it allowed my vibrant yellow vintage colored glassware to stand out. I mixed both vintage glassware and flatware with modern dinnerware that included a greek key design and lucite chairs for seating.
HOW TO DO IT
To start, choose three hues – one color should be a calming color and be used as the backdrop for your table, hence the tablecloth. For balance go with clean white china place settings so that the two vibrant contrasting colors of your glassware and flowers pop. By using a second set of clear glassware (for water), and silver flatware – this will allow these pieces to blend more into the tablescape. Simple, right?
So go ahead, add some vibrant hues to your tablescape for your next summer get-together!

Hello friends! I hope you all had a good week. The last few days have been nonstop rain and we went from springtime weather back to chilly temps…blah! For me, this weekend will involve some spring cleaning and work in the studio. Whatever your plans may be, enjoy and here a few of my favorite finds from around the web…

Strangely enough, the markets in my neighborhood are not on weekends but during the week, which isn’t convenient for me. I found that farmer markets in Maryland and New York have a great selection where you will find rows and rows of fresh produce and flowers. Love this handwoven market basket by The Little Market for carrying all your market finds!

I was pretty bummed out that I missed out on the Lilly Pulitzer collection at Target this past Sunday. The sales person said they sold out in an hour and a half! I was so looking forward to purchasing some of the items I posted about, here. This fun & colorful Lilly Pulitzer Wedding inspiration idea is great for a summer tablescape too!
I love a good flower centerpiece and this arrangement surely doesn’t disappoint!
There is nothing quite like those summer evenings outside spent dining with friends and family. It’s the perfect place to linger and relax. Move your next dinner party outdoors with some summer tablescape inspiration…
