While the early evenings of fall may be brisk and cool, that doesn’t mean we should pack away our outdoor furniture. Instead, there are a few simple things you can incorporate (which you may already own) to create a cozy and warm outdoor space! Once you have transitioned your space from summer to fall, bring on the party!
Celebrate the season with my seasonal snacks, cocktail, and fall decor ideas.
Seasonal Treat Tray.
Let’s start out with snacks, shall we! I think fall is the perfect time to indulge in its seasonal flavors. For this savory snack blend, I used everything with apple and pumpkin flavors. I wanted to create something similar to charcuterie board – the concept being you build your tray by adding a variety of small amounts of snack items in a cluster form. It’s a tray that will attract anyone who loves sweet and/or salty!
Here is what I used to create this sweet and salty tray filled with savory seasonal delights:
- Archer Farms Cinnamon Apple Chips
- Archer Farms Pumpkin Spice Trail Mix
- Nature’s Basket Sweet Potato Pumpkin Tortilla Chips
- Werther’s Original Pumpkin Spice Soft Caramels
- Archer Farms Pumpkin Spice Pretzels
- Archer Farms Pumpkin Spice Caramel Corn
Fall-flavored Dessert & Signature Cocktail.
Next up, dessert and a cocktail! You guessed it…I continued my autumn flavors with this pumpkin cake. You can either purchase your pumpkin or apple flavored baked goods or bake one. If you prefer to bake something, check out this pumpkin cranberry bread recipe. For other options, check out this post where I featured the best pumpkin recipes to try. Whether you’re hosting a casual gathering or elaborate party – offer your guests a signature themed cocktail you prepared. Since this is an outdoor gathering, you may want to serve something warm, like this apple cider hot toddy or this cinnamon-pumpkin toddy.
Festive & Seasonal Entertaining Essentials.
To celebrate the season, pull out any of your fall kitchen entertaining essentials. I used my white and gold owl cake stand. I purchased my stand last year from Home Goods but found a similar one online here and here.
To keep you and your guests warm from the crisp fall air, toss a few throws in a basket and have them near your outdoor sofa or chair so that they can be easily accessible. For other ideas to keep your guests warm…break out your outdoor patio heater or fire pit. Not shown in any of today’s featured pics is our propane patio heater. We are looking to purchase a new one since ours is no longer working.
The simplest way to add fall festive touches are with with pumpkins, but of course! I placed a small pumpkin on our outdoor ceramic accent stool and another one on the ottoman tray.
Decor & Colors.
I prefer neutral tones for our outdoor living furniture because it is easier to transition from season to season. You can easily reflect the colors of the season in your decorative toss pillows, florals and decor accent pieces. I brought in a purple colored mum and purchased this faux dahlia, rose & hydrangea arrangement that came in a pretty container – designed with a gold-leaf accent (currently on sale/clearance!)
To mimic the golden colors of floral arrangement, I placed these preserved eucalyptus and silver dollar bundle in a clear vase on top of the bar cart (also on sale now!) The bundle came wrapped with a piece of burlap fabric, so in keeping with the fall vibe, I covered the inside of the vase by placing the burlap inside. This gave the vase an earthy and rustic look.
For other natural decor pieces, I brought out my driftwood and placed it on ottoman tray.
While it’s not time yet for us to change our clocks back, you may have noticed that it’s already starting to get a little darker, earlier. Bring out your patio lights and if you don’t own any, place plenty of candlelights throughout your outdoor space. I pulled out my lanterns for the side tables and hurricanes for the outdoor dining table.
I hope you enjoyed our outdoor living tour, how I transitioned our outdoor deck to the fall season and some ideas on fall flavored treats and sips!

Now that warmer weather is officially here, more days and nights are spent lounging outside either on the deck or in the backyard. I enjoy the simple pleasures of listening to the birds in the distance and take in the sweet smells and the summer breeze of nature.
Me and my significant other, look forward to date night which usually consists of a delicious dinner and spending either a Friday or Saturday night at home and rent a movie to watch. One way we like to embrace the summer evenings is to take movie night outdoors! If we are hosting a group of people for movie night, we break out our projector and white screen. However, when it’s just the two of us, we bring out our laptop, hook it up to our Bose speakers and watch a movie on the deck in our outdoor living room.
A cozy blanket and pillows are perfect to lean back and relax. But let’s not forget to load up on snacks to enjoy while watching the movie. We all know popcorn is not only nostalgic, it’s the movie watching snack essential so when SkinnyPop Popcorn reached out to me to let me know they created the perfect seasonal drink and popcorn pairings (hello, cocktails!), I was totally onboard to try one of the five pairings! Whether you enjoy the freshness of a Moscow mule or a sweet glass of sangria, Skinny Pop Popcorn put together a little guide for you to get your summer snackin’ on! I’m sharing this guide with you today…keep scrolling to see more!
SkinnyPop are very serious about their drinks and their popcorn, so they created an exclusive summer drink and popcorn pairing graphic, shown below!
Since we like to take turns on who gets to pick the movie, I decided to let my better half select the popcorn pairing. Out of the five pairing selections, there were three we both wanted to try but ultimately, ‘blackberry smash’ paired with ‘aged white cheddar’ was the winner. Ahem…I think someone r e e a a l y y liked their cocktail because a second glass was made! Since I enjoy my cocktails more on the sweeter side, I added a bit more simple syrup and only 1 0z. of whiskey than the 2 ounce the recipe calls for. The cocktail paired with the flavor of the aged white cheddar popcorn was definitely complimentary!
I hope you’re inspired to spend summer outdoors and enjoy one (if not all) of the popcorn and cocktail pairings. Whether you’re packing up for a picnic or if you decide to round up your neighbors, friends, and/or family for a casual movie party, set up a concession-stand with individual popcorn bags, along with the preferred cocktail pairing and let your guests scoop their favorite. Your guests will appreciate it!
Which pairing will you try? Comment and let me know your favorite!
Cheers to summer!

Sometimes it can be challenging when it comes to creating a cozy but stylish look for a small outdoor space. When I saw this ‘Romantic Look’ on Better Homes and Gardens, it had me swooning on how creative to have an arbor stationed around a two-seater bistro dining set. Covered by floral vines and a hanging chandelier is a perfect garden setting for two that adds impact and drama. It takes time to have vines grow so until then, hang a floral hanging basket or create your own DIY basket by choosing which types of flowers you want to display. When choosing an outdoor chandelier or pendant, you may consider having a flameless candle one. I found this Rustic Willow Ball LED Pendant & Remote lighting. By adding a few florals in between the pendant, it’s a simple way to dress up the lighting.
Inspired by the outdoor romantic garden setting, I rounded up a few items to help you recreate the look …
Shop the Post: 1. Pier 1 Imports ‘Margaritte Suzani Pillow’ // 2. Home Depot ‘Ceramic Moonstone Ivy League Jardiniere’ // 3. Overstock ‘Acacia Hardwood Outdoor Bistro Set‘ // 4.’ Supertunia Vista Bubblegum Petunia’ // 5. Wayfair ‘Innova Hearth and Home Bradford Arbor’ // 6. Pier 1 ‘Stackable Acrylic Goblet Set’ // 7. ‘Silver Metal Watering Can’ 8. Bed Bath & Beyond ‘ Prodyne Fruit Infusion Pitcher’

Whoohoo – it’s Friday! Last night we had a pretty bad rain storm with winds that managed to push our covered deck furniture clear across the other side and even the grill moved a few feet away from its original location! Thankfully, the storm didn’t last long nor did it cause any damage. I have to admit though, it was a little scary to watch. So glad that this weekend calls for sunny skies and warm temps. I’ll surely soak up the spring time sun! And with that said, enjoy a few of my favorite finds that will have you wanting to spend some time outdoors this weekend! Have a wonderful weekend and Happy Friday!

If you follow my blog, you know I’ve talked about my excitement for finally expanding our deck so for this post on ‘These Four Walls’ series, as promised, I am sharing pictures of our newly renovated outdoor living space!
We were told we couldn’t stain the deck floors yet since it is pressure treated wood (urgh). So I’ll have to wait until the fall to stain the deck floor a darker color.
Originally, I was looking for a dining table that had an insert for an umbrella but I could not find a dining set that paired well with the sectional. It was necessary to have an umbrella due to the hot afternoon sun facing the back side of the house, so the alternative was a free standing umbrella that can rotate (bonus!)
Since there are a lot of members in our family, it was important for us to have seating for eight and this table comes with a table extension. It’s so simple to use, you just slide the table open to insert or remove the extension piece.
I opted for a circular conversational sectional (that also seats 8). Having an ottoman makes this seating even more comfortable!
I decided to stick with a neutral color palette so that the indoor color scheme from the living room transitions well with the outdoor decor.
Notice the grill in the picture above? That squared-off section was the size of the original deck that we expanded from. As you can see, once you place a grill, you don’t have much space to work with for seating.
I’m not the only one who loves hanging out on the deck…Bailey will sit out there for hours just watching the birds and squirrels!
I’ve tucked planters filled with potted flowers, strategically placed more all around the deck and brought in a few privacy shrubs, creating a little oasis.
This living space has certainly been a place that I enjoy sitting out on whether its early morning with coffee in hand as I listen to the singing birds, a lazy weekend afternoon lounging, or eating dinner as I watch the sun go down. Summer just got better!!
