Decor & Interiors: HOME WORKSPACE TOUR WITH JOANN DIGIACINTO

Decor & Interiors: FUNCTIONAL + FABULOUS WORKSPACE TOUR WITH JOANN DIGIACINTO

Get ready to be inspired!

In case you missed yesterday’s post, I featured my sister’s guest bathroom and today her home tour continues inside her feminine and oh so, chic home workspace! When it comes design aesthetic, my sister’s home is a direct reflection of her individual style.

When my sister, JoAnn decided that she was going to convert her empty open loft space located on the second level of her home into her personal workspace, she knew she wanted it to be three things…functional, sophisticated, with an ultra feminine flair. She succeeded with her vision and created a comfortable workspace that is both contemporary and timeless. JoAnn provided just the right jolt of style and glam!

The design inspiration began with the installation of this stunning patterned wallpaper – a simple way to add the look of luxury. With hues of gold, cream, and light gray, this determined the color palette for the rest of the workspace. By adding wallpaper, it created a dramatic interest to a space filled with neutrals. Likewise, with muted tones, she certainly was able to create a feeling of openness in her small space and the impact of the wallpaper gave the illusion that the workspace was bigger than it actually is.

JoAnn didn’t go with just any ordinary desk chair, she desired an inviting sense of comfort. She selected fabric and had it upholstered so that the front and back had two different fabrics, creating a luxe look.

Centered open bookshelves allows the space to have a focal point where she is able to add her favorite statement decor pieces and books. A custom built-in gives plenty of space to store items and work on various projects.

A gorgeous chandelier embellished with amber jeweled-tone crystals, creates an upscale and elegant workspace.

Just like me, my sister loves a wonderfully scented candle and she houses hers on a gold mirrored tray, accompanied with a Chanel box that holds match sticks. A bud vase is readily available for those days when she wants to add a few short-stemmed flowers. However, the vase sits perfectly on the tray even without fresh flowers, resembling a sculptured piece.

Big or small, distinctive details are styled everywhere in this space.

To add an accent color to this workspace, JoAnn decided to go with a blush color that adds to the feminine vibe. This custom monogrammed window shade with its crystal trim was the final touch and completed the look of her workspace.

A home workspace is not complete unless you have bar cart and my sister decided to use this vintage brass tiered glass shelf with two primary functions…to house her drinking glass, water pitcher, and to incorporate her sentimental decor pieces. Nestled underneath her window, she added a soft layer by using a white shag rug, which helped to keep the small area grounded.

Decor & Interiors: GUEST BATH TOUR WITH JOANN DIGIACINTO

Interiors & Decor: HOME TOUR WITH JOANN DIGIACINTO

A few weekends ago while visiting New York for my routine doctor’s appointment, we stayed over my sister’s house. During that time, I told my sister (JoAnn) that I should share two of my favorite rooms in her home via my insta-stories. She happily agreed and we showed a quick home tour of her ultra chic home office and her luxurious and modern guest bath. In case you missed that home tour, we will take an intimate look inside two of my favorite interior spaces in my sister’s Jersey home, here on my blog! Tomorrow I will be featuring JoAnn’s lovely home workspace that you won’t want to miss, so do come back!

My sister checked off all the bells and whistles when designing this clean and modern guest bathroom – heated marble floors, marble vanity countertop, a patterned marble inlaid flooring accent, sleek polished nickel hardware and fixtures, a full spray shower head that delivers high pressure water release and beautiful decor accents that create a seamless and classic look. From the wall paint color to the bathroom linens, this room is bathed in a calming sophisticated palette of harmonious hues.

DESIGN BY OCCASION HOLIDAY HOME TOUR, 2015 {Part 2}

Welcome to Part 2 of our Holiday Home Tour! In case you missed Part 1 from yesterday’s post, click here. Today I’m sharing with you my Christmas tablescape in the dining room. I’m pretty happy with the way it turned out. The inspiration for the tabletop design were the colors of white and gold – one of my favorite color combos!

This white faux fur runner added a wintery vibe to the dining table and layering it with white & gold dinnerware and flatware created a stylishly modern look.

These gold foil letterpress coasters by Laura Hooper Calligraphy were perfect for creating a napkin holder! I chose the holiday saying – ‘Jingle Jingle’ and attached these Sugar Paper Gold Bells and tied it around the folded napkin. This festive DIY is a sure way to delight your guests as they prepare to enjoy a delicious holiday meal. I adore dual purpose items so once guests untie their dinner napkins, they can re-use the tag as a coaster!

I love the sleek and illuminating mix of clear crystal paired with the gold! I also added glass icicles to our chandelier to add to the wintery vibe.

Sugar Paper knocked it out of the park with their holiday collection at Target! From gift boxes (like the one shown above) ornaments and charming gift toppers, I think I purchased a few of everything!

These A M A Z I N G bites of deliciousness were extra treats from the night of the proposal. My fiance knows one of my guilty pleasures are desserts of any kind! These petits fours came from La Gourmandine, a french bakery located in Pittsburgh.

I stashed the extra bottle of bubbly from the celebratory evening!

I needed something massive for my empty dining room wall so I took a natural grapevine wreath I had stored away from a Fall Shoot and created this wreath using an assortment of evergreens and similar to how I decorated the fireplace mantel, I inserted a few roses and football mums along the bottom of the wreath.

Well that concludes our 2015 holiday home tour! Thank you so much for stopping by and taking the tour! Happy Holidays!

DESIGN BY OCCASION HOLIDAY HOME TOUR, 2015 – Part 1 {And News that’s making this Christmas the best one yet!}

Design by Occasion Holiday Home Tour 2015

Hello, lovely readers! Do I have wonderful news to share with you today!! I’ve been holding on to this news until I was able to share the photos of my holiday home tour and you will find out why in a minute but let me begin with the first bit of good news..

If you are a follower of my blog, than you may know that everyday I am battling a reoccurrence of ovarian cancer with the hopes of one day hearing the news from my doctor that I am disease free. For the past six years, I’ve been traveling to New York for my cancer care and I’ve undergone two different kinds of medicine that have worked for a long period of time. One of the treatments kept my disease stable for five years but then it stopped working. This third medicine, I’ve been on it for approximately three plus months. Last week Thursday was the day I would find out if my current treatment was working! As you can imagine, I was nervous and scared as to what I will have to endure next but I found comfort in having the love and support of my one and only love and the sweetest, most loving sister I can ever ask for! With them by my side, I knew I could handle what may come my way.

I went to get my quarterly CT scan early Thursday morning and we all anxiously awaited for the results later that afternoon. We received the BEST news…results showed that there was shrinkage of the cancer! While the CT scan showed an increase in two other places, it was so small that it did not warrant having my treatment changed. I can’t tell you what a relief it was to hear that! We all breathed a sigh of relief in the doctor’s office! As we walked out of the exam room, we all gave each a group hug. Tears were shed and more hugs were given that day…it was an emotional day filled with anxiety but ended with a calming sense of relief! A HUGE thanks to all my family and friends that included me in their prayers! It was the best Christmas gift ever! What other early Christmas gift did I receive?…

Did you see it? No? Ok, scroll back up to the picture above. I’m ENGAGED! Can I tell you how absolutely giddy I was when my partner of 10 years proposed to me! Yes, ten years is a long time and we pretty much felt like we were married but our commitment to each other has not wavered. I couldn’t have been more surprised by the beautiful way in which I was proposed to! I’m beyond thrilled to start the planning process on tying the knot with my BEST FRIEND who has never changed since the day we met, who has stood by my side through the worst time of my life (bald and all), who makes me laugh beyond belief and who has supported my dreams of starting my little greeting card company – ‘Design by Occasion’ (oh and my late nights of blogging)! I would go on but I won’t get all mushy with you! ha!

Design by Occasion Holiday Home Tour 2015

You will notice as you scroll through the pictures, all the pretty flowers. Well those my friends, are all the flowers I was showered with on the night of the proposal! From pink and white roses, blue and white hydrangeas, to ranunculus and more! I literally was able to place a bouquet in every room of the house!

With so many gorgeous flowers, I made bouquets and…

placed a few white roses and white football mums in the fresh garland above the fireplace. How did I keep them from not dying you ask? I used water tubes! Simply tuck the bloom inside the garland so that the water tube can be hidden. I also added a string of battery operated lights for a more festive look. It’s simply a beautiful DIY for the holidays!

Last year, I decorated our Christmas tree in all white ornaments. This year, I decorated the tree with gold and silver ornaments.

I hope you have enjoyed today’s post and check back tomorrow for PART 2 of my holiday home tour, as I will be sharing how I styled our dining room for the holidays!

Thanks for stopping by and reading! XO

THESE FOUR WALLS: Stylish Living with Bette Midler

My all-time favorite actress/singer is the wonderfully talented icon, Bette Midler (I mean who can forget the movie ‘Beaches’!) So when I received my email news feed yesterday from Architectural Digest that featured her New York Penthouse, I quickly headed on over to see the stylish abode of this celebrity favorite! Take a look at a few of my favorite rooms…

THESE FOUR WALLS
Aah, imagine having this spectacular view overlooking Central Park’s reservoir.

THESE FOUR WALLS
I have to say, although I adore the style of this cozy kitchen, I wouldn’t have guessed it was in a Fifth Avenue penthouse. All the more to love this space because it feels you are somewhere else!

THESE FOUR WALLS
A lovely retreat to escape to while living in this bustling city.

You can read the article and see more of her home tour by visiting Architectural Digest.
