Happy Friday_Design by Occasion

We are in for more bad weather this weekend, so not looking forward to it! My trick to turn a gloomy outdoor view is to turn my interior space into a more pleasant one. How do I do that you ask? By placing small flower arrangements sporadically in the rooms of your house you spend the most time in. We all know that when decorating a dining table with a beautiful flower arrangement can transform the space and make it more inviting, the same applies for other areas in your home. It surely does not have to be expensive either. Sometimes you can luck out on a large beautiful arrangement sold in your local supermarket. You can divide it by making a few smaller arrangements and place them in smaller vessels rather than simply sticking the whole bouquet in one vase. I happen to make purchasing flowers a biweekly routine as it can lift your spirits too. Who says flowers don’t make you smile!

Speaking of flowers, this week I was asked to create custom baby shower invitations from a very happy Mother.  The baby shower is scheduled for April and her expected daughter is due in May. The theme…April ‘Showers’ brings May flowers? I’m looking forward to putting a few different ideas together!

Happy Friday All and thank you so much for stopping by THE NOTED!! xo

A THANKSGIVING CENTERPIECE: Nature Inspired Lush Garland

Today I am sharing pics of the table for our Thanksgiving dinner that I completed yesterday. The main feature of the table centerpiece are green Seeded Eucalyptus, accented with individual white mums, orchids and a manzanita branch.

Did you notice the navy blue accent wall in the last two pictures? If you follow me on instagram, you may recall when I posted this. I love how the new color turned out, it adds a cozier vibe to the dining room from the previous lighter blue paint color. Now I am on the hunt for the right art piece!

As you gather together in gratitude, I hope that this Thanksgiving brings you all special and memorable times with your family and friends and that you have many blessings to celebrate throughout the year and years to come!  CHEERS to the blessings of another year and for each other!! Happy Thanksgiving!

See you back here on Friday!

AUTUMN CENTERPIECE: Decorating with Pumpkins

Nothing feels more like a fall gathering than seeing a dining table decorated with a mix of different size pumpkins and gourds arranged on the center of a table like the way stylist, Karin Lidbec-Brent created and did so well, as shown in the picture below!  The addition of produce like potted kale, cabbages and foliage adds an organic feel.

Prefer to keep it simpler? I still love the concept of using a pumpkin as a vase!

If you don’t use your pumpkin as a vase, adding an assortment of flowers in a warm and rich palette of autumn colors with color coordinated vessels (as shown below) is also a festive touch.

Any of these combinations make for a perfect seasonal centerpiece!

THE MANY USES: the “Vase”

Last week on the noted, I featured a new weekly blog post titled “The Many Uses” where I showed the many uses of a storage box. Today, I am sharing 4 different uses of a vase!

Other uses for a vase:

  • Make-up brushes
  • Ribbon (I always have leftover ribbon when wrapping presents)
  • Wrapping Paper (placed on the floor in my studio are two large clear vases where I place my many rolls of wrapping paper)

If you have ideas that you would like to share on how you use your vases, feel free to share in the comments section!

Next week I will be sharing the many uses of a Tray!
